I'm the father of two little swimmers, ages five and three. I decided to become a swim instructor after a bad experience last summer with a coach who just didn't seem to understand how to teach a child who needed extra time and encouragement to get comfortable in the water.

I'm originally from Houston, TX. My hometown has plenty of pools to beat the heat, and I've been in most of them. My mother brags that I knew how to swim at two years old, and I haven't stopped since. 

 

I was on competitive swim teams from age five to eleven. Unfortunately, football took over in middle school (Texas, amiright?). My love for the pool was reignited in college at USC, where I took swim classes and swam on club teams, learning advanced strokes.

 

I'm also an avid beachgoer and a lousy surfer.
